Not Just Celsius is a cross-platform ✱ media campaign for climate justice, developed in collaboration with the Interactive Media Foundation of Berlin. The project was created to support a historic youth-led initiative aimed at obtaining a progressive legal opinion from the International Court of Justice on climate change.
From the very beginning, the main driver of visibility was the Instagram account @notjustcelsius, where video and graphic content—developed through close collaboration between ✱ editorial, social, and design teams—worked to inform and engage a younger audience. The visual language and tone of voice were not strictly defined from the beginning but evolved organically with the project, finding a balance between ✱informing, alarming, and engaging.
The creation of a simple and direct ✱ website played a key role in establishing the project’s authority and documenting its progress. At the same time, offline channels were explored through out-of-home campaigns that brought the message into ✱ public space, giving a voice to activists from different parts of the world directly affected by the climate crisis.
The project reached a crucial moment at the end of 2024 during the ✱ Oral Hearings at the International Court of Justice in The Hague. For this historic event, posters across the city were accompanied by unconventional video projections on buildings, adopting a guerrilla-style approach to expand the campaign’s reach. On the same occasion, Not Just Celsius, together with ICJAO developed content and planned the user experience for a small ✱ exhibition at the Court’s Visitor Centre, turning a key milestone into a new starting point for public engagement and storytelling.
